The Future of Modern India

It is indeed a matter of pride for the people of Arunachal Pradesh that one of the most prestigious magazines like ‘Yojana’ is going to have a special issue on Arunachal Pradesh. My heartiest thanks to the Government of India, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and hope that this will prove to be a great opportunity to showcase the rich Arunachal Panorama.
I represent the easternmost and frontier state of our country, Arunachal Pradesh, which is rightly called as land of rising sun. We have common borders with Bhutan, China and Myanmar. The outside world has inadequate knowledge of this land of enchanting beauty and peace loving, patriotic and sincere tribal people.
From where the mountains rise from the plains of Assam stretching northwards and eastwards to the boundaries with China Bhutan and Myanmar, lies Arunachal Pradesh. Once referred as the North East Frontier Agency (NEFA), Arunachal Pradesh is the largest among all the North-eastern states.
Amongst our States, Arunachal has the longest international borders of 1863 kms. (Indo-China 1126 kms,Indo-Myanmar 520 kms and Indo - Bhutan 217 kms) Most of the border areas are still in the vicious circle of poverty, under-development,
separation and isolation because of their remoteness and the rugged terrain, which has made connectivity a major challenge. It is twice as big as Switzerland or Denmark.
